The change of seasons makes me so happy! I’ve only ever lived in places with seasons, & can’t imagine not having perfect fall weather. Even on those 20 degree winter days, my belief is that if you’re dressed right it can still be nice weather. Join me in the celebration of nature’s harmony, layering up & enjoying warm food & drinks, hopefully near a fireplace.

Celebrating so much love this season.. my birthday, my man’s birthday, our anniversary, & getting ready to launch the new collection.. which I’m so in love with. It’s all wrapped in love.
Saying love this many times reminds me of the Rent quote, measure your life in love. What a great reminder that when we don’t choose love, we can always choose again & bring the love. It’s a constant practice & reminder – none of us are perfect & we’re here to lift each other up when we fall down.

Excited that one of my go-to’s came out with a book dedicated to natural beauty practices. I’ve been following her blog, books & podcasts for years, and visit her juice shop every time I’m in LA. Looking forward to getting into this new edition. Thanks, Kimberly!

Announcement : I’m pregnant! It’s such a time of changes & growth happening, including maternity bralettes tested on.. yours truly! (Out of necessity too, as I’m busting out of my usual bralettes). Also, preg brain is in full effect (email me again if I forget to write back!), I’ve been craving lots of natural ginger ale & lemonade (along with sweets!), & trying to listen to my body (take it easy when needed!) during this magical time. Baby is due in March 2017 ♡

Less makeup & a dewy summer glow. Faves include Josie Maran P&P / gold highlight

Year of Yes – this book by Shonda Rhimes is inspiring & funny. One result of reading it I’ve started watching Grey’s Anatomy (I had never seen an episode! hello McDreamy..)
If you check out this book, I recommend listening to Shonda read it on Audible.

m o n t h l y m a n t r a : june / july 2016

harmony: Summer harmony = work, travel, taking it easy & taking care of myself, catching up on TV in air conditioning, & planning for the future.

love: One thing I love making to stay hydrated when it’s hot out is watermelon in the blender (so easy! mint is a good addition). Another drink I discovered in Colombia is limonada di coco – aka coconut lemonade! Basically it’s coconut milk & lemon juice blended together (& ice if you want, sweetener if needed), for a creamy & refreshing summer drink. Let me know if you try it :)

beauty: I’ve been lucky to travel & revel in nature over the last month… the countryside of Colombia, Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire, & a couple beach weekends in the Hamptons. This time of year it’s so green, pretty & energizing to be outside. What are your favorite summer getaways or nature spots?

truth: I’ve been listening to a lot of Ram Dass lectures on the Be Here Now podcast. A couple of my favorite topics are: the yoga (union) of relationships, and his talks on suffering. From my notes:

Allow yourself to be a human being.
Accept your own truth.
Being human is the curriculum on earth.

Love doesn’t know boundaries.
The mind creates boundaries.

Love is a doorway to the universe and unity,
Being together in the space of love.

Open the heart and feel out from the heart.
When you have love / are in love, everything else looks more beautiful.

Hope you are enjoying your summer!

m o n t h l y m a n t r a : may 2016

I can’t believe it’s the end of May already! These mantra posts feel like monthly journal posts that connect with the values of the brand & how they integrate into life each month.
I recently returned from a trip to Amsterdam (beautiful city!) & Iceland.
This month’s mantra is based on my inspiration from the trip & how I’m bringing it into everyday life.

harmony: Relaxing in hot water! From the Blue Lagoon to the ‘secret lagoon’ we visited, it was so special & calming to relax in natural hot springs made by nature. I’m inspired to take more baths at home, & love to use epsom salts & candles.

love: As much as I love to travel & see new things, I’m looking at how I can cultivate that feeling of inspiration & exploration in the moment. Loving what is, right NOW, with appreciation for the present moment no matter where it happens.

beauty: Connecting with nature to get grounded. The natural beauty of Iceland was overwhelming & awe-inspiring. From waterfalls to geysers, mountains, glaciers, lava rocks & jagged cliffs – all exist together in the expansive landscape.
Since returning I’ve brought more plants into my space…& a few more crystals as well!
And, hair masking for beauty! The Blue Lagoon dried out my locks a bit. The best thing I’ve used is coconut oil applied on dry hair, then wash it out a couple hours later. Also enjoyed some avocado on my face to rehydrate after flying.
Nature-based & simple, it doesn’t get better than that.

truth: Appreciating the simplicity of living with only what’s necessary when traveling, I’m inspired to simplify my belongings at home. Living in clutter-free spaces for 9 days was a powerful lesson that the less that’s there = the less that’s there.
Kicking into high vibe space-clearing mode going into this new season.

m o n t h l y m a n t r a : march 2016

With the new moon, eclipse & change of season this month – newness, transformation & transcendence are everywhere. Holding onto old patterns becomes uncomfortable. As things rise to the surface, take a closer look & consider if it’s worth holding on or better to let go to move into new territory. Things may get uncomfortable for a while but change is necessary for growth.

harmony : working out for mental balance – soulcycle & kundalini are my latest movement picks. The mind-body-soul connection keeps me in the moment & makes the time fly by.
What’s your favorite way to move this month?

love : my new deck of Starchild akashic tarot cards. s w o o n !
Gorgeous, magical & comes with a thoughtfully written booklet to interpret the cards.

beauty : Flossgloss pastel & metallic 5-free nail polish (at least it can be spring on my nails already!)
I keep re-painting my nails because there’s so many colors & combos..♡

truth : I step into the unknown & have faith that the path will appear as I create it.

Some questions to consider this month:
What have you been spending time on that’s not taking you where you want to go?
How can you shift your actions to be in line with your priorities?
In what ways have you been holding on to the past (physically, mentally, emotionally) & what are you ready to let go of?
Set an intention for what you want to bring into your life, in place of what you’re releasing.

△ new monthly post △
△ 4 categories based on the harMonica mantra △

This month is all about strong overtones of love, roses & sexy mood setting.
I’ve been feeling the ‘blush’ color so strongly too, getting in touch with my feminine side, bringing a little softness to my style amid all the blacks & greys this winter. Speaking of shades, another thing I just got into (yeah yeah late to the party) is Fifty Shades trilogy.. much more depth & romance there than I expected! Not to mention blush-worthy.. Anticipating the second movie coming out next Feb – !

Whether it’s solo or with a partner, I hope you enjoy this monthly mantra, let me know in the comments below.

harmony : lighting palo santo to clear the air & energy

love : listening to ‘often’ by the weeknd, ‘bad girl’ by usher & anything by ROZES = mood setting

beauty : sakara food delivery, drinking rose infused water

truth : getting uncomfortable to evolve, & manifesting easy partnerships / collaborations

harMonica origins / part 5 : bralette

To create a bralette that goes with the panties I’ve been making for years, I wanted it to have the same aesthetic – intimates that look great & feel comfortable at the same time.
This bralette is a pretty version of a classic bralette style, with an unexpected peek of contrast fabric at the back, resulting in a lace trimmed bralette that’s made to be shown.
I love the look of open garments – low draped front, open back, low armholes at the sides. But I don’t want to feel like I’m showing my ‘underwear’ when I wear them – hooks and wires bared for all to see.
This is a bralette that can be shown on purpose.

When I was developing the pattern, I realized it wouldn’t fit my own DD bra size, so I created bralettes for A-C & for D/DD cup size. The D/DD bralettes are cut to fit a larger chest size without getting looser at the ribs.
(This model is not wearing a DD bralette, but they do exist!)
Aka – fitting the boobs and the band. & voila! Bralette born.

Inspiration: Shopping with Sofia

Ah, teenage dreams.. I was in high school in the late 90’s. Our marching band was in the Rose Bowl Parade 1999, and going to Los Angeles was so exciting for an east coast girl who dreamed of California. I remember seeing this article in Seventeen magazine a few months earlier, about Sofia Coppola and her clothing line Milk Fed. But the article was more about her fashion designer lifestyle, titled See Sofia Shop. The journalist went with Sofia to all her favorite spots in Hollywood and it just looked like so much fun. Record stores, vintage shopping, photo booths and manicures. It had a map on one page and I wanted to go to all the stores listed. I forgot to bring the pages with me on the Rose Bowl trip, so my mom faxed it to the hotel in Anaheim where we were staying. Phew! I gathered a handful of my friends and we hired a driver (with a minivan) to take us to Melrose Avenue. It was so fun going to Wasteland and some other stores from the article, as well as discovering many more funky boutiques that were on Melrose at the time. Ever since then I’ve always held a special place in my heart for shopping on Melrose, and I do make it back there almost every time I visit.

Shopping with Sofia was the first inspiration I can remember that made me want to become a fashion designer.

The lifestyle, the shopping, the clothes… thanks Seventeen magazine 1998!

Creating A World

Energy… it’s everywhere and in everything, from physical objects, to people, to thoughts and intentions; it’s even in a look, an email.

Creating a brand, a new business is creating a world in which the brand and lifestyle lives. Everything is related. Yes, I am making a collection of lingerie. But the intention is love, and to spread beauty with whoever wears the pieces, or looks at them, or sees the images from the upcoming photo shoot. (!!)

Personally, I’m focusing on being present and doing things that feel good. Putting myself in places, and in the presence of people who are uplifting and like-minded. Thinking of these things and people as a rope that’s pulling me forward into new ways of being. Sometimes this comes naturally, and sometimes it’s uncomfortable, but growth involves change – which isn’t always comfortable and can show up in unexpected ways. I’m working on slowing down, being in the moment, being grateful for today and for what is here now. Today I’m thankful for having the freedom to create what I want, and for the support of so many incredible friends, family members, and acquaintances that are in my life. I’m thankful that I get to go on a honeymoon with my new husband, and to spend Christmas on a beach for the first time in my life! Also for chocolate! This week I’m very thankful for dark chocolate :)

I hope you feel beautiful and free wearing harMonica panties. Comfortable in your own skin and ready to take on the day with power. If you give it as a gift, my wish is that you’ll be giving not only cute undies, but also the gift of harmony, one-ness and love – a piece of the world that they were created in.

Energy creates worlds.

What energy can you let go of in the new year that is no longer serving you?

Share with me in the comments, let’s raise the energy vibration together!

Happy Holidays!

Big things to come in 2015 in this world :) Thanks for being a part of it!

Crafting & Process

I’ve been thinking a lot about living in the process… Actually experiencing things as they are happening. Remembering to stay in the moment, and to enjoy the moment. Am I having fun? If not, what’s the point?! Seeing the path ahead, knowing where I want to go and what I want to do, but at the same time knowing that I don’t have absolute control over it. I invite the Universe to bring in even bigger things than I can imagine! I’m just focusing on breathing, being here and now, being the process.

I love the creative part of developing a line, yet it means I’ve been spending a lot of time alone, creating and thinking from the heart about what I want to put out there. But putting it out there means connecting to people, old and new, and spreading the word of harMonica. So, what is that?

harMonica stands for harmony, love, balance, and beauty. Represented through  intimate apparel that’s comfortable enough to wear every day, while still expressing beauty. It all comes back to that harmony, and balance. Living a lifestyle of compassion, spreading love, and expanding what’s possible for who wears it and for the world.

Rock the panties & spread the love!

xo Monica
